EFGCP

The European Forum for Good Clinical Practice (EFGCP) is dedicated to promoting the interests of patients in clinical research through the development of European ethical and scientific standards. The VSCR is proud of its strong links with this organization that extends beyond membership to include advising the EFGCP on training and education and actively participating in working groups:

Ethics working group - where the primary focus is on Informed Consent and the Ethical Review Process.

Education working group - where emphasis is placed not only on identifying primary needs and challenges in the education of Good Clinical Practice but also on developing Train the Trainer programs to maximize cross-national understanding.

In addition to the input that the VSCR has with EFGCP, the ethics course pioneered by the VSCR has been developed in close co-operation with the leader of the EFGCP Ethics Working group and board member Francis Crawley resulting in a program which is dynamic, and identifies the major challenges faced by those responsible for ethical decisions in clinical trials.
