The Comprehensive Cancer Center Vienna (CCC) is a joint facility of the Medical University of Vienna and the Vienna General Hospital. It combines interdisciplinary and proficient medical treatment of patients suffering from cancer with clinical and basic research as well as teaching on the highest academic level.
The focus of the CCC is both on the training and on further education in the field of cancer, which is attempted to be provided on every level of formation. The main concern is thereby especially the support of young, dedicated students, physicians and scientists. |

The Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) is a unique and large-scale public-private partnership between the European Union and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).
IMI runs a 2 billion euro research programme aiming to speed up the discovery and development of safer and more effective drugs for patients, and to reinvigorate the biopharmaceutical sector in Europe.
The main goal of this innovative funding scheme is not to develop new drugs as such, but to improve tools and technologies (such as biomarkers, imaging techniques, knowledge management platforms …) that will enable the faster and more efficient development of safer and better drugs for patients.
The research consortia participating in IMI projects include small- and medium-sized enterprises, universities and other research organisations, hospitals, patient organisations, public authorities and large pharmaceutical companies.

The MiP Consortium is a five year programme of research to evaluate new and existing drugs, insect control interventions and other strategies for the prevention and treatment of malaria in pregnancy, which places up to 50 million women at risk every year.
Ten major projects direct research in four key areas of malaria in pregnancy: prevention, treatment, burden assessment and how best to scale up existing strategies and interventions. Over 40 expert institutions from all over the world are involved. By using this consortium approach, the Consortium can develop and promote evidence-based policy changes to save lives in the shortest possible time.
